Psalm 43: Erin Edit
1 Affirm me from within, O Lawyer of Love,
defend me against the hater brigade;
from those who are phony and puffed,
free me from proving myself worthy.
2 For you are my Lawyer on whom I call;
why then do you sometimes brush me off?
Why must I go about pitifully
oppressed by the dumb gaze of others?
3 Send out a memo of Light and Truth;
let them be my legal team;
let them bring me out of this dank courthouse
and into a place with fresh air and altitude
4 There I will go to my Lawyer of Love,
to my Lawyer of endless “not guilty’s,”
and I will praise you with my shitty, little kazoo,
O Lawyer, my advocate.
5 Why, my soul, are you cramped?
Why so shame-spiraling within me?
Put your hope in the Advocate,
for you will walk fierce again like Them,
Your Help and Your Champion.
Ponder: We all live with a hater brigade—whether from within or without. (Hi! I got my first piece of anti-fan mail this week! The word FART was written very large.) The practice is to tap into a non-anxious place of affirmation you can access anytime.
Pause: How do you get affirmed from within? Have you given your source of non-anxious defense a name? Where do you go to escape the courthouse of condemnation? Considering getting some fresh air and altitude this week. Porches are a good start.
Praise: Good for you. You who are too wise, too wiped to prove anything. You who rely on Light, Truth, and Love to do the talking—or not talking. You who will walk fierce again like Them. If not today, then tomorrow. Or the next day. After a nap, maybe.
Love your edit! Just what I needed- something other than, "breathe, just breathe". God being practical. I'm a visual learner and I can see affirmation:-) Yay! Perk
Great "Erin Edit" of Psalm 43! You have me calling on Taylor Swift to "shake it off" and remembering a line from a "Make the Day Fun" email which says "Reply to everything someone says with 'That's what you think.'" Thanks for the prompts! xo, Shelly
